What genre am I?
I find one of the most difficult things about releasing new music is ascribing a category or genre to it! It seems that however you publish music, it can’t be done without giving it a label.
And the problem with that is that as a creative artist I don’t really want to put myself in a specific box like that.
But as it is an unavoidable requirement…. what genre is best applied? I variously think of my solo piano music as fitting somewhere across a number of common genres. Here are the most popular ones:
- Piano / Solo Piano
- Classical / Contemporary Classical
- New Age / New Age Piano
- Ambient / Ambient Piano
- Instrumental / Contemporary Instrumental / Featuring Piano
